A Brief History of the Magic

The Wichita Wizards first tipped off in 2019 — born as an expansion team in the Minor League Basketball Association (MLBA) — bringing minor‑league pro basketball back to Wichita after a long wait.

From day one, the team committed to giving local players a platform to shine, pulling mostly from Wichita and surrounding communities.

Over their first several seasons, the Wizards quickly proved they were more than just another roster. They drew local support, racked up wins — going undefeated early on — and earned respect both on the court and in the community. Kansas.com+2wichitalifeict.com+2 Realizing the momentum and potential, the team helped found the Mid‑America Basketball Association (MABA), officially joining the new league as a charter member in late 2022.

Since then, the Wizards have cemented themselves as a cornerstone of Wichita’s sports scene. They play home games at the beautiful Independent School on the east side of town, and off‑court they contribute to community impact through school visits  and outreach programs to keep kids engaged year‑round.
